The vineyards of Bodegas La Emperatriz is located in Bath Rioja, in a strategic and privileged, the estate belonged to the Empress Eugenia de Montijo. The vineyards are located in different places on the right bank of the river Oja, in a wide valley located 570 m above sea level, bounded by the mountains of Cantabria and demand, and by crossing the road to Santiago. Its 101 acres of land make this property one of the largest in La Rioja Alta. Winemaker David Gonzalez is responsible for the development of wine selected by the Control Board, the result of experimental work in the vineyard. The peculiar characteristics of land, with a 40 cm layer of white pebbles that completely hides un suelo con estructura franco arenosa, dotan al viñedo de un apropiado drenaje, una adecuada iluminación de los racimos, una buena disposición radicular y un aporte limitado de nutrientes, este conjunto de condiciones definen el terruño que aporta esta particular elegancia a los vinos de la bodega. El rosado seleccionado se elabora con un 90% de uva tempranillo y un 10% de uva garnacha procedente de parcelas con edades comprendidas entre 5 y 60 años, su sistema de conducción es en espaldera alta y vaso tradicional. En la cosecha seleccionado por el Consejo Regulador, la uva llegó a la bodega en óptimas condiciones después de una cuidadosa recolección, tras una maceración de 24 horas se procedió al sangrado de los tanks, fermenting the wort at temperatures ranging from 14-17 º C. Once the alcoholic fermentation the wine remained in the tank with its fine lees for 2 months. The result has been a wine before it is presented with a raspberry color, clean and bright. The nose has aromatic intensity, highlighting the beginning the aromas of ripe pear, tropical fruit and floral notes of caramel and strawberry. The palate is fat, fresh, fruit-dominated. An excellent rosé which undoubtedly represent the typical characteristics of the terroir Rioja hand Rioja Regulatory Council.
